My 2nd chair project = an old blue wing-back I've had for forever *original fabric: a blue velvet.... boring.... I wanted to do an all-over handmade shibori pattern My inspiration was a piece of raw silk I made when I traveled to Japan for a textile design study abroad program in the summer of 2007 we got the opportunity to visit a very old shibori museum in an edo period village high in the mountains of Japan and make a piece to take home There are a few different types of shibori This particular type is called: Itajime I went with a thick organic cotton/hemp blend canvas for the chair b/c it has a nice feel and it's very durable I also like the way this canvas picks up the color I like how the white welt (piping) turned out! now, I still need to find 2 front legs & finish the cushion anybody know a good place to find nice furniture legs? (preferably on casters) photos coming soon.................. Here are the photos of the finished vintage kitchen chair from last week: Super Happy! (want to find one to do for myself now) #angiesgarden Have a great week! XO
